Seductive Secrets
Secret Lives Series Book One
Jerry Hines
While the plot was intriguing, the book itself was actually pretty difficult to get through. The dialogue was stilted and so far from the inner monologue of the characters, that it proved to be very distracting. There were several shifts from third to first person, even in the middle of a sentence, which led me to having to re-read several sections just to figure out what was going on.
The interactions between the characters felt very forced, and not consistent.
In another category, the relationship between the main characters was skirted the edge of being sexual assault and harassment.
I kept waiting for a fantastical or supernatural edge to happen throughout the novel, as it was hinted at several times in reference to the main character, but it seemed more of a lazy way of progressing the plot, rather than developing either the character or the universe to a basic level.
